I am Unapologetically a Leggings Mom

I am a leggings mom. All day, every day.

Unless there is a legitimate reason for me to dress up, you will find me in leggings.

And you know what? Contrary to the general publics opinion of legging wearing moms, I find this to be completely acceptable.

No, I do not work out everyday. No, I do not intend to go to the gym and then just get busy. Instead, I just have a firm belief that I am entitled to wear whatever I want.

Crazy Right?

As hard as it is to believe, the activewear I sport on a regular basis is part of what makes me a happy mom.

Yes, you read that right.

You see, as a mom I get to fill multiple roles. You know the ones. Taxi driver, personal event coordinator, family chef, cleaner of the house and doer of the laundry…the list goes on.

And honestly, my addiction to activewear keeps me comfortable in all of this. My comfort keeps me sane, and in turn, my sanity keeps me from screaming like a psycho at anyone I encounter. (Most of the time.)

Thus, my legging wearing habit kind of becomes a win, win.

Another great perk to wearing leggings, they are such a versatile wardrobe staple! I mean, c’mon. You guys complained like crazy when us mombies trolled into Walmart wearing our pajama pants. Now we are rocking sleek, mostly black leggings that match out hoodies, or our dress shirts depending, and you guys are still throwing shade.

Stop it.

Don’t get me wrong. I do work out fairly regularly, and when that happens, it is nice to already be dressed to tackle the challenge. This being said, you can refrain from judging this leggings mom on her off days, she is still living her life in a world of full range of motion bliss from the couch. Don’t you mind me lounging in comfort.

Also, for all of your judgey Judy’s out there, we totally saw how you oooh’ed and ahhh’ed over Wonder Woman in her new movie.

As moms, we watched as you all became excited over the role model this female superhero was giving our girls. The inspiration that she provided them in that one short film being just so amazing. Guess what? She did all that, and more, in leggings.

So please, tell me why it has become such a big deal for our real-life Wonder Women, the women who are busting tail and doing the impossible to raise our next generation, to rock out their superpowers in leggings too?

Yep, I just dropped that truth bomb right at your feet.

So, you may be asking yourself, why do you care if I am a legging wearing crazy mom?

Because mama, chances are you are either just as in love with leggings as I am, or you are the mom who judges other exercising their right to be completely comfortable at all points in their day. Either way, my hope is that you take away some empowerment or enlightenment from these words. I hope you find it in yourself to stop judging those moms who wear sport their activewear with pride at three in the afternoon from the couch with a bag of chips in hand.

Or maybe, you find the confidence to stop caring what other moms think of you while you boast the ability to round house kick anyone you see in Walmart who gives you a dirty look. (Please, while you have the ability to do this, you may think twice. I have heard those charges are not ones you want.)

Either way mama, find the courage to do you without fear of other’s opinions, and be unapologetic for being a leggings mom.
